How to make a URL slug

Paste a title, or several titles one per line, and the slugs appear below. Each one is lowercase, uses hyphens and has no accents or punctuation. The tool normalizes Unicode, removes accents so café becomes cafe, drops symbols and collapses spaces into one separator. Copy the slugs into your CMS, router or sitemap.

Convert whole lists at once

Paste one title per line and get a slug for each. That helps when you move a blog, fill a CMS or build a sitemap. Pick a hyphen, an underscore character, a dot or no separator to match your platform.

Lowercase by default

Slugs are lowercase so routing doesn't depend on case. You can turn that off if your system needs capitals. Everything runs in your browser, so unpublished titles stay private.

What makes a good slug

Keep slugs short and descriptive, with the main keyword near the start. Leave out stop words that add nothing, such as a, the and of, and avoid dates if the page will be updated. Once a page is published, keep its slug, or set up a redirect from the old address, so links and search rankings carry over.

Before you start

Slug Generator works on the text or values you enter. Output: Slugs. The settings appear before anything runs, so you can check them first. Your original file is never changed.

The value you enter is processed in your browser. Still test the output where it will be used. Clean formatting does not prove the data is safe or correct.

Keep the original until you have opened and checked the result. The work happens in this browser tab, so the size you can handle depends on your device's memory, your browser and the file itself.

  1. Paste one or more titles, one per line.
  2. Pick a separator: hyphen, underscore character, dot or none.

  4. Copy the slugs.
