What this tool does

It reads the Dialogue lines from an .ass or .ssa file, strips the override tags and styling, and writes plain numbered SubRip cues with standard timestamps.

Why convert ASS to SRT?

Advanced SubStation is powerful but not universally supported. Many players, editors and streaming platforms only accept .srt, so flattening to SubRip maximises compatibility.

What is removed

Style definitions, positioning, colours and karaoke tags ({\...}) are stripped since SRT can't represent them. Cue text and timings are preserved, with \N line breaks restored to real newlines.
