What is a MicroDVD .sub file?
MicroDVD .sub is a subtitle format that stores each cue as a start and end frame number — {startFrame}{endFrame}text — rather than a clock time. It's common with older AVI releases.
Why the frame rate matters
Because MicroDVD uses frames, converting to a time-based format like SRT requires knowing the video's frame rate. Pick the wrong fps and every subtitle drifts out of sync, so the tool asks you to choose it.
How to pick the right fps
Match the frame rate of the video the subtitles were made for — commonly 23.976 for film, 25 for PAL, or 29.97 for NTSC. If unsure, check the video's properties in your player.
