What cropping a video does

Cropping cuts the edges off every frame and keeps the rectangle you choose. Use it to remove a watermark in a corner, cut black bars by hand, zoom in on the part of a screen recording that matters, or turn a wide clip into a square or vertical one.

How to crop a video

Drop the video above. Enter the width and height of the area to keep, in pixels, and the X and Y position of its top-left corner, measured from the top-left of the frame. The defaults are 1280 × 720 starting at 0, 0. Press Convert and download the cropped MP4, encoded as H.264 with AAC audio.

Getting the numbers right

Check the video's size first, for example in your player's info panel. To keep the center of a 1920 × 1080 video as a 1080 × 1080 square, use width 1080, height 1080, X 420 and Y 0. Values are rounded to even numbers, which H.264 requires, and a crop that would run past the edge is shrunk to fit. To remove black bars automatically, use Remove Black Bars from Video.
