Where lorem ipsum comes from

The text is a scrambled passage from Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum, written in 45 BC. Typesetters used it in specimen books, and desktop publishing software made it standard in the 1980s. Because the words are not real Latin sentences, readers focus on the layout instead of the meaning.
