What does unlocking do?

Many PDFs carry an owner password that blocks printing, copying text, or editing while still opening without a password. Unlocking rewrites the file without those permission restrictions.

Why unlock a PDF?

So you can print a document you are allowed to read, copy a quote, or edit a form that was needlessly locked. It removes the restriction layer, not your right to the content.

How it works

Convertur loads the PDF with pdf-lib and re-saves it without the encryption dictionary, dropping the permission flags. Everything runs in your browser, so the document is never uploaded.

How to unlock pdf

  1. Drop a restricted .pdf into the zone above.
  2. Press Convert — the file is rewritten locally.
  3. Download the unlocked PDF.
  4. Print, copy, or edit it freely.
