How this compressor works
Each page is rendered to an image at your chosen DPI and re-encoded as JPEG, then rebuilt into a new PDF. This is very effective on scans and pages full of graphics, where the original often stores wastefully large images.
The honest trade-off
Because pages become images, text is no longer selectable or searchable after compression. If you need to keep the text layer, this method isn't the right fit — but for scanned documents that are already images, it's the biggest size win available.
Choosing DPI and quality
120 DPI at 70% quality is a good balance for on-screen reading and email. Drop to 96 DPI for the smallest files, or raise to 200 DPI when the result still needs to print cleanly.
