Fade audio in and out
Fade audio in and out online. Set the fade-in and fade-out lengths separately, from 0 to 15 seconds each, then save an MP3. No upload needed.
What a fade does
A fade-in raises the volume from silence to full level over a few seconds at the start. A fade-out lowers it back to silence at the end. Fades hide abrupt starts and hard cuts, such as a song clipped from the middle, a ringtone or a background track that needs to end gently under a video.
How to fade audio in and out
Drop an audio file above. Set Fade in and Fade out with the sliders, each from 0 to 15 seconds in half-second steps, then press Apply fades. Set one slider to 0 to fade only one end. The tool applies a linear fade over the time you choose and saves an MP3. Download it and listen to the start and end before you use it.
Choosing fade lengths
Short fades of 0.5 to 1 second remove clicks at a cut without being noticed. Two to three seconds sounds natural for music clips and intros. Five seconds or more suits a song that should drift out at the end of a video or playlist. If you trim first and then fade, the fade lands exactly at your cut points.
Before you start
Input: MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG, OPUS, WEBM, and AMR. Output: faded MP3. The settings appear before anything runs, so you can check them first. Your original file is never changed.
Converting audio can change the codec, bitrate, channels, tags and length. Listen to the start and end of the result. Keep a lossless original if you may edit it again.
Keep the original until you have opened and checked the result. The work happens in this browser tab, so the size you can handle depends on your device's memory, your browser and the file itself.
