What is an M4R file?
M4R is Apple's ringtone format — AAC audio in an MPEG-4 container with a .m4r extension. iPhones only accept ringtones in this format, up to 40 seconds long.
How to make the ringtone
Load a song, drag the sliders to the catchiest 40 seconds or less, and export. The tool encodes AAC and writes an iTunes-compatible .m4r for you.
Getting it onto your iPhone
Connect your iPhone, open Finder (or iTunes on Windows), and drag the .m4r file onto your device under the Tones section. It then appears in Settings → Sounds.
