What is RAF?
RAF is the RAW format of Fujifilm cameras. A RAF file starts with a small Fujifilm header that points straight to a JPEG preview, followed by the camera's metadata and the raw sensor data from the X-Trans or Bayer sensor. Fujifilm shooters often love the in-camera film simulations such as Classic Chrome or Acros, and the preview carries that look.
Which Fujifilm cameras shoot RAF?
Every Fujifilm X series camera that shoots RAW saves .RAF files: the X-T bodies from the X-T1 to the X-T5, the X-T30 and X-T50, X-S10 and X-S20, X-E3 and X-E4, X-H1, X-H2 and X-H2S, the X-Pro line and the X100 compacts up to the X100VI. The medium format GFX cameras, such as the GFX 50S, GFX 100S and GFX 100 II, use RAF too.
Preview size on Fujifilm cameras
Fujifilm stores a preview that is smaller than the full sensor. On the X-T3 and X100V files we tested, it was 4416 × 2944 pixels, about half the pixel count of the 26 megapixel sensor. That is sharp on any screen and prints well up to about A4. For a full-resolution JPEG, develop the RAF in a RAW editor or use the camera's own in-camera RAW conversion menu.
How the RAF to JPG conversion works
RAF files carry a JPEG preview made by the camera. It is the image you see on the camera screen after you take the shot. This tool finds the largest embedded JPEG, decodes it and saves it again at the quality you choose, from 1 to 100 with 85 as the default. There is no RAW development step, so even a large batch converts fast. Your original RAF files are not changed.
What the JPG will look like
The preview uses the settings from when the photo was taken, such as white balance and film simulation. So the JPG looks like an in-camera JPEG, not a flat RAW rendering. Its pixel size matches the embedded preview. EXIF metadata such as capture date, exposure settings and GPS location is not copied. For exposure, colour or white balance edits, develop the RAW in Fujifilm X RAW Studio, Capture One or Lightroom.

Before you start
Input: RAF. Output: JPG. The settings appear before anything runs, so you can check them first. Your original file is never changed.
Local AI tools may download a model before the first run and can use a lot of memory. The output can contain mistakes or gaps, so review it before you rely on it.
Keep the original until you have opened and checked the result. The work happens in this browser tab, so the size you can handle depends on your device's memory, your browser and the file itself.
