How to resize an image

Drop your JPG, PNG or WebP files above. Type a width, a height or both in pixels, or pick a preset such as 1920 × 1080, 1280 × 720, 1080 × 1080, 800 wide or 512 × 512. How the aspect ratio lock works

With Keep aspect ratio on, the image is scaled to fit inside the box you set and is never stretched. Enter only a width and the height follows. Enter both and the image fits within both limits, so a wide photo resized to 1080 × 1080 comes out 1080 pixels wide and shorter than 1080. Turn the lock off when you need an exact width and height and don't mind the picture being squeezed.

Why resize an image?

Upload forms, profile pictures, thumbnails and print shops often ask for a set size. A smaller image is also a much smaller file. Halving the width and height leaves a quarter of the pixels, so a resized photo loads faster and fits under upload limits that compression alone can't reach.

Tips for sharp results

Shrinking an image rarely shows any loss. Enlarging stretches the pixels you have, which softens fine detail, so only upscale when you really need bigger dimensions. For JPG and WebP output the quality slider also applies. The resized file keeps the original format.

Pick the size and quality for where the image will end up. Resizing before strong compression usually keeps more visible detail. Keep an untouched original so you can export again later.
