Convert BMP to PNG
Convert BMP to PNG for much smaller files with exactly the same pixels. Lossless output, converted in your browser with no upload or install.
What is BMP?
BMP is an old Windows bitmap format with little compression. The files are large and awkward to share or store, and many websites and chat apps won't accept them.
Why convert BMP to PNG?
PNG is lossless like BMP but compresses much better. You keep every pixel and the file gets smaller, often by 50 to 90 percent for screenshots and graphics. PNG also opens on every modern system and in every browser.
How to convert BMP to PNG
Drop the .bmp files above and press Convert all. The browser decodes each bitmap and writes the same pixels into a PNG. There is no quality setting, because nothing is thrown away. Download the PNGs one at a time or as a ZIP.
Quality notes
Both formats are lossless, so the PNG is an exact copy of the BMP, just smaller. It is the best choice for sharp edges, text, user interface screenshots and graphics. For large photos where size matters more than exact pixels, BMP to JPG makes an even smaller file.
Before you start
Input: BMP. Output: PNG. The settings appear before anything runs, so you can check them first. Your original file is never changed.
A format change can affect compression, transparency, color and metadata. Zoom in on fine detail and transparent areas in the result. Work on a copy if the photo is one you want to keep.
Keep the original until you have opened and checked the result. The work happens in this browser tab, so the size you can handle depends on your device's memory, your browser and the file itself.
