Why convert PNG to JPG?

PNG files can be large, especially screenshots and photos saved as PNG. JPG compresses photos much smaller, so they are easier to email, upload and store. Many job portals, government forms and marketplaces also accept only JPG, or set file size limits that a PNG photo goes over.

How to convert PNG to JPG

When to keep PNG instead

Keep PNG for logos, line art, diagrams and anything with sharp edges or transparency. JPG works best on photos, where its compression is hard to see. On flat colours and text, JPG compression leaves faint blotches around edges.

Quality and transparency

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white. If you need a different background colour, add it in an editor before converting. The tool converts the whole batch with the same quality setting.
