How to convert Word to PDF

Drop a .docx file above. Mammoth reads the document in your browser and shows a preview of the converted content. Check it, then press Create PDF. Your browser's print dialog opens with the document laid out on pages. Choose "Save as PDF" as the destination, pick the paper size and save.

The layout is not a copy of Word

This converter keeps the content and structure of your document, not its exact look. The PDF is laid out fresh with a clean print style, so page breaks, fonts, line spacing and margins will differ from what you see in Word. That suits reports, essays, notes and letters where the words matter. For documents where every position matters, such as a designed CV, a form or a brochure, export the PDF from Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice instead.

What is kept and what isn't

Headings, paragraphs, bold and italic text, bulleted and numbered lists, tables, links, footnotes and images are kept. Fonts, colours, text sizes, alignment, columns, text boxes, headers, footers, page numbers, watermarks and Word comments are not. If a part of the document can't be converted, such as a chart or drawing, the tool shows a note before you save.

Why convert DOCX to PDF here

No Word install, account or upload is needed, and it works on a Chromebook, a phone or a borrowed computer. The PDF has real text you can select and search, because it is printed by the browser rather than drawn as a picture. Use Save as PDF in Word itself when you need a pixel-perfect copy.

Before you start

Input: DOCX. Output: PDF. The settings appear before anything runs, so you can check them first. Your original file is never changed.

A document conversion may not keep every font, layout rule, embedded object, subtitle cue or app-specific feature. Read through the full result before you send or submit it.

Keep the original until you have opened and checked the result. The work happens in this browser tab, so the size you can handle depends on your device's memory, your browser and the file itself.
