Why convert JPG to SVG?

Logos often survive only as a JPG from an old website, an email signature or a scan. A JPG can't be enlarged without blur, and printers, sign makers and embroidery shops ask for vector files. Tracing the JPG gives you an SVG made of shapes that stays sharp at any size and can be recoloured.

How to convert JPG to SVG

Drop a .jpg or .jpeg above and press Convert all. The tracer reduces the picture to 16 colours, follows the edge of each colour region and writes the outlines as SVG paths. Shapes shorter than 8 points are dropped. The file downloads as a standalone SVG that opens in Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma and every browser.

JPG artifacts and how to work around them

JPG compression leaves faint blocks and halos around edges, and the tracer sees those as extra colours. That shows up as speckles or rough edges in the SVG. Use the biggest, least compressed copy of the image you can find. Sketches and signatures trace best when scanned on clean white paper with good contrast. For a logo on a photo or a coloured background, remove the background first.

When a trace isn't enough

Automatic tracing approximates the original. Fine text, thin lines and gradients may need cleanup, and photos turn into posterized patches rather than vectors. For brand work, use the traced SVG as a starting point and redraw small details by hand in a vector editor.

Before you start

Input: JPG and JPEG. Output: SVG. The settings appear before anything runs, so you can check them first. Your original file is never changed.

Pick the size and quality for where the image will end up. Resizing before strong compression usually keeps more visible detail. Keep an untouched original so you can export again later.

Keep the original until you have opened and checked the result. The work happens in this browser tab, so the size you can handle depends on your device's memory, your browser and the file itself.
