What is TIFF?

TIFF is a high-quality format used by scanners, print shops, fax software and archives. It keeps a lot of detail, but the files are large and most browsers, chat apps and web forms can't open them.

Why convert TIFF to JPG?

JPG is small and opens everywhere. After converting, a scanned document or photo is easy to email, upload or put on a web page. A 600 dpi letter-size scan that takes tens of megabytes as TIFF usually fits in a few megabytes as a JPG.

How to convert TIFF to JPG

Drop the .tif or .tiff files above, choose a quality and press Convert all. The UTIF decoder reads each TIFF in your browser, then the image is saved as a JPG at that quality. Keep the quality at 85 or above to hold on to scan detail and small text. Transparent areas become white, since JPG has no alpha channel.

Fax and document scanners often put many pages in one TIFF. This converter saves the first page only. For a multi-page scan, open it in a viewer that can split pages, or rescan to PDF.
