Convert WebP to PNG
Convert WebP to PNG in your browser. Get lossless PNGs that keep transparency and open in older editors, slide apps and viewers. Nothing is uploaded.
What is WebP?
WebP is Google's image format for the web. Its files are smaller than JPG and PNG, and it supports transparency and animation. Many websites serve WebP by default, so an image you save from a page often lands on your disk as a .webp file even when the page looked like it showed a JPG or PNG.
Why convert WebP to PNG?
Some editors, slide apps, print services and system previews still don't handle WebP. PNG is lossless and opens everywhere, so it is the safe format to edit or pass on. It is also the right target when the WebP has a transparent background, such as a logo or product cutout, because JPG would fill that background with white.
How to convert WebP to PNG
Drop the .webp files above and press Convert all. Your browser decodes each WebP with its own decoder, draws it onto a canvas and saves it as PNG. Transparency carries across untouched. There is no quality slider, because PNG output is always lossless.
Quality and file size
PNG keeps the decoded WebP pixels exactly, transparency included. Converting can't restore detail that a lossy WebP already threw away, but it stops any further loss when you edit and save again. The PNG is often two to five times bigger than the WebP. That is the trade-off for wider support.
Before you start
Input: WEBP. Output: PNG. The settings appear before anything runs, so you can check them first. Your original file is never changed.
A format change can affect compression, transparency, color and metadata. Zoom in on fine detail and transparent areas in the result. Work on a copy if the photo is one you want to keep.
Keep the original until you have opened and checked the result. The work happens in this browser tab, so the size you can handle depends on your device's memory, your browser and the file itself.
